The author of this blog is a literary translator, wannabe cultural historian and sometimes poet, living and working between Egypt and the UK. She was born in Cairo and initiated into the cult of adulthood in London. Currently doing a PhD at an unnamed university in Britannia Inferior, she spends her days reading and commenting on matters of her choice. She manages to pass it all as ‘work’. And she has the audacity to occasionally complain.
صاحبة هذه المدوَّنة مؤرِّخة ثقافية صاعدة تهوى الترجمة الأدبية وتدّعي -أحياناً- الاحتراف. وُلدت وترعرعت في الظروف المناخية القاسية لمدينة القاهرة واكتملت نشأتُها تحت أمطار لندن. لا يُعرف لها حالياً مقرٌ أو مُستقر غير أنها شوهدت مرارا على الطريق الجويّ بين مصر وبريطانيا، وثبُت أنها تحضِّر لرسالة الدكتوراه في إحدى جامعات بريطانيا السفلى وتخرج في بعض المواسم قاصدة البحر أو الصحراء أو إحدى الأرشيفات. تقضي معظم نهارها وبعضاً من الليل في القراءة والتأويل وتشكو كلَّ حين من وطأة العمل، إما بغرض التمويه أو لدرأ أعين الحاسدين.
